About this material
Purple clay is one of the rarer cosmetic clays — its colour develops only where specific traces of manganese and iron sit alongside the kaolin matrix. We source ours directly from artisanal pits in north-eastern Brazil and triple-sift it to a uniform, dust-fine grade.
In formulations it behaves like a refined kaolin: low water demand, smooth slip, no harsh draw. The colour holds beautifully through saponification, which is why our soap-making customers reach for it again and again.
